I initially met with Astrid and her mom because Andrew was working in Edmonton. Which means the first time I met him was on his wedding day. And he didn’t say much while we waited in the backyard for the first time he and Astrid would see each other that day. But when Astrid stepped out and tapped him on the shoulder, his first words to her were to whisper “you’re so beautiful!” And I could tell that he had a wonderful heart.
Their wedding day was the kind of sneaky-beautiful day that late March can surprise with. We wandered through Trinity-Bellwoods Park taking photographs. And were driven to the best graffiti in the city by Pete and his Electric Bus. And ended up at the wedding celebration at Steam Whistle Brewery (where Astrid and Andrew took a pre-ceremony tour, and were allowed to sound the steam whistle. Twice.) And their cross-Canada clan cheered them on with champagne. It was a lovely day.
